Garapa is a South American hardwood generally identified as Apuleia leiocarpa. It is also marketed under names such as Brazilian ash, Garapeira and golden teak.
“Golden teak” is a trade name. Garapa is not genuine teak.
Fresh Garapa generally has a yellow, honey or golden-brown appearance. It may darken after exposure and finishing. Its color is more uniform and considerably lighter than Ipe.

Natural hardwood boards vary in color. A simple rectangular deck may need approximately 5% to 10% extra material. Complex borders, diagonal layouts and strict color matching may need more.
Suppose a 400-square-foot Garapa deck needs 10% waste:
400 × 1.10 = 440 sq. ft.
If a complex Ipe design needs 15% waste:
